Jonas Bjerre (Mew), Guy Berryman (Coldplay) and Magne Furuholmen (A-Ha) have formed a band together. The one-off band is called Apparatjik and their only song Ferreting can be found as an opening track from the charity album Songs for Survival. You may buy this double-CD next month in physical form, but it’s already out on iTunes. Click on the Amazon/Tribe-link on your left and listen to a 45-second clip from Ferreting where Jonas is respectively the vocalist. The song distantly resembles some of the b-sides of Mew. From the very same aforementioned link you’ll also find information on how to buy the song or the whole album.
KT Tunstall, Mystery Jets, Hot Chip, The Go! and Way Out West among others have also contributed to this double-CD. Ferreting – the first track – is the title song of Bruce Parry‘s BBC documentary series Amazon and the final track is written by the legendary electromusic guru Mike Oldfield. Many of the songs are accompanied by samples of tribal songs Parry has recorded on his trips to the Amazon jungles. Earth music in the strictest meaning of the word.
