The documentary film about the largest rock festival in Nordic region, Roskilde (2008) has been released on dvd in Denmark. This film by Ulrik Wivel follows – in great detail – the arrangements of the Roskilde-festival, general public and media interest added with a bunch of live performances by artists such as Placebo, Franz Ferdinand, The Streets, Rufus Wainwright, Editors, Sonic Youth and Mew. All performances last approximately three minutes, but Mew’s Comforting Sounds plays for seven minutes being the finale of the documentary. It is also very possible that Mew – after four years of absence – will play this festival next summer.
You can find the dvd from Roskilde-festival’s official site or from the legendary Danish Laserdisken-stores. This company sold laser discs years before dvd format was even invented.
